Project Description

The construction of the cocktail bar “Church” at 2219 Maryland Avenue in Baltimore’s Old Goucher neighborhood transformed a 19th-century building into a hub of community engagement and culinary innovation. The project involved creating outdoor seating areas in both the front and back, a welcoming dining room, a medium-sized bar decorated with wooden “organ pipes,” and an open kitchen for guests to witness the culinary magic. The bar aims to provide a warm and inviting experience for its guests.

This project aimed to blend the building’s historic charm, such as its brick exterior and front porch, with modern design elements. Pews were intentionally designed as dining chairs, adding a unique touch to the ambiance. The outdoor deck and rear patio provided additional spaces for patrons to enjoy their meals and drinks while fostering a sense of community. This project also set a new standard for commercial kitchen environments.
